What are Camloc’s new working hours?
As of 3rd March 2025, Camloc’s business hours will be 8am to 5.15pm, from Monday to Thursday.
Why Camloc is moving to a four-day working week
This was a move we did not take lightly, with the best interests of our customers and employees at the forefront of initial discussions.
We first proposed the idea in 2024 and, after in-depth consultation with all the Camloc team and positive feedback from employees and customers alike, we took the decision at the end of the year to move our business to a four-day working week.
We firmly believe the decision is the right thing to do, and the way forward, for our employees and for Camloc as a business, and it is a move that has been widely welcomed. We are looking forward to the benefits it will bring.
The benefits of a four-day week for our customers
Our customers are, of course, the lifeblood of Camloc. We are confident that a four-day week will bring only benefits, which can be quickly identified as:
- Service quality maintained: Camloc remain fully committed to meeting your needs and we are confident that this change will allow us to maintain our excellent service.
- Greater efficiency: A streamlined workweek enables faster, more effective handling of queries and projects.
- No change to capacity: With an increase to working hours from Monday to Thursday, there will be no negative impact on the volumes which can be manufactured.
The benefits of a four-day week for our employees
We are firm believers in the age-old mantra that if you take care of your employees, they will take care of your clients.
By moving to a four-day week, we can put even more emphasis than before on our team, bringing a greater focus on their wellbeing and creating new environmental, social and governance (ESG) benefits:
Employee wellbeing
Our research into the benefits of a four-day week for our employees show us that an improved work-life balance will foster greater motivation, focus and creativity, enabling us to provide more thoughtful and effective solutions. In addition, happier, healthier employees are better equipped to deliver high-quality customer service and support.
Environmental, social and governance (ESG)
Our findings showed that a four-day week will bring significant benefits to our environmental, social and governance, namely:
- Environmental impact: A reduction in commuting, plus reduced factory floor and office operations, will lower our carbon footprint, aligning with our sustainability targets.
- Social responsibility: Supporting a healthier work environment contributes to a more inclusive, and motivated workforce.
- Governance: Enhanced focus on productivity and streamlined processes ensure continued service, and operational excellence.
What is the 4 Day Week Foundation?
The 4 Day Week Foundation is spearheading the campaign for the UK to adopt a four-day working week and reduce maximum working hours from 48 hours to 32 hours per week.
The Foundation is calling for a reduction in working hours, without a reduction in pay, that will improve work-life balance, boost productivity, and enhance employee wellbeing.
At the end of January 2025, the Foundation announced that more than 200 UK companies, which includes more than 5,000 workers, have permanently adopted a reduced hours four-day week with no loss of pay for employees, with the vast majority reducing working hours to 32 hours a week or less.
What is the 4-Day Week Foundation Silver Standard accreditation?
By employing more than 35 people at our head office in Leicester, in a volume manufacturing environment and suppling customers across the world with gas struts and dampers, Camloc is proud to be among the few ‘traditional’ UK manufacturers to have signed up to the permanent four-day working week.
By achieving the Silver Standard accreditation, it means we now offer our employees a permanent 35 hour (or less) four-day week, with a reduction of hours and no loss of pay.
What Camloc has to say
“As a manufacturing company committed to customer service, quality and continuous improvement, we believe the transition to a four-day working week will benefit both the well-being of our team and the long-term performance of our business,” says Camloc Managing Director Matt Warne.
“By allowing our team more time to rest and recharge, we’re creating a working environment that promotes focus, creativity and job satisfaction – all the elements essential in delivering the high standards of customer service we strive for.
“Studies demonstrate that a well-rested workforce is more productive, engaged and innovative, aligning perfectly with our ethos and core values. This move reflects our commitment to optimising our operations and the lives of those who make our success possible, whilst ensuring we continue to deliver the high levels of product quality and customer service we demand of ourselves.”
