Our adjustable force gas strut- Vari-Lift can be set to meet your exact requirements in a wide range of situations. The key benefit of this type of gas strut is that the force adjustments can be made with the gas strut fitted to the application, saving you both time and effort.
If your project required a gas strut but you need it to be adaptable, responsive and able to be adjusted in specific ways, then this is the product to consider. This product works in a variety of situations and for all the applications that our standard gas struts can be used for with the added benefit of being easily customisable.
Adjustable gas springs are the ideal solution to be used during product prototyping as this allows for the opportunity to attain the required force for fixed-force production gas springs. They can also be used where the weight of your products varies between models and can be degassed to provide the correct action when you need it.
Fixed Force Compression Gas Struts – Swift and Sure
A self-contained standard gas strut solution for lifting, supporting and counterbalancing.
Fixed Force Stainless Steel Compression Gas Struts
This solution has been designed to be used in harsh environments and where high levels of cleanliness are required.
The gas strut that enables precise, multi-position positioning over the entire stroke.
Locking Gas Struts – Blocklift (Type BL1 and BL3 only)
This is a solution that is best used where safety is the key priority, the strut cannot be compressed unless unlocked.
Safety Locking Gas Strut with Shroud – Econoloc
Used where safety is of paramount importance, the strut cannot be compressed unless unlocked.
What are the key benefits of the adjustable force gas struts?
They are adjustable to any force within range
The force can be easily changed after installation
They are simple to adjust using standard tool supplied
It’s the ideal solution for prototyping and short production runs
They are available as an option on most types of Camloc gas springs
They are well suited for situations where application weights vary Stainless steel options are available
How do the adjustable force gas struts work?
All standard, shrouded, multi-positional and stainless-steel gas struts are available in a VARI‐LIFT version which can be adjusted to meet individual preferences.
The gas struts are charged to their maximum force during the manufacturing process and using the tool provided, gas can be gradually released via the VARI‐LIFT valve at the end of the tube to provide the force suited to your application. Once the correct force has been established, we can measure this level of pressure and provide production fixed force gas springs that are all pre-set to your precise requirements.
Although theoretical forces can be calculated with good accuracy, what can’t be calculated are factors such as hinge friction and the customer’s perceived speed of action. This is where the Vari-Lift option comes in.
Will it work for my requirements?
Our team offer a bespoke service, and will work with you to provide gas spring solutions, even if it is outside the typical type and sizes.
We pride ourselves on our service to customers, with design engineers on hand to work with you using the latest CAD/CAE techniques. Recognising that no two applications are the same, we provide engineered solutions to meet your exact requirements.
Our products page has more information about the various range of solutions that we provide.
In addition, we also offer a wide range of bespoke sizes depending on your requirements.
What options are available?
The adjustable force gas struts can be applied to the following products:
Fixed Force Compression Gas Struts – Swift and Sure– A self contained standard gas spring solution for lifting, supporting, counterbalancing and tensioning.
Friction Locking Compression Gas Struts (External & Internal) – Stop and Stay– A gas spring that lifts and stays in any position.
Safety Locking Gas Strut with Shroud– Econoloc– A gas spring that locks automatically on full extension for safety.
Fixed Force Stainless Steel Compression Gas Struts – The ideal gas spring for high corrosion and clean environments.
Locking Gas Struts – Blocklift – BL1 and BL3 types only.
