What does a Safety Locking Gas Strut with Shroud do?
A gas spring with a shroud eliminates the need for separate safety rods in critical lift assist applications. They positively lock when fully extended, protecting the operator from potential injury in the event of overload or misuse.
Simple to use, they operate automatically. When the gas spring is fully extended, a spring-loaded locking shroud moves into place, preventing the gas spring from compressing. The shroud is manually released by applying thumb pressure to the designated area of the lock, allowing the gas spring to compress in a controlled manner.
The locking shroud is finished with the same epoxy coating as the gas spring body, providing excellent corrosion resistance. A guide inside the shroud prevents scratching of the gas spring cylinder.
The Econoloc range of gas springs combine superior quality with the added safety feature required in many heavy-duty applications, such as trucks, construction machinery, switch gear and agricultural equipment. Eliminates the need for separate safety rods in critical lift-assist operations.
How does a safety locking gas springs with a shroud work?
Unlock the power of the Econoloc with a simple press of your thumb on the designated area of the safety locking shroud. This manual release mechanism allows for controlled compression of the gas spring, ensuring a safe and precise operation.
The locking shroud is thoughtfully designed with a coating that matches the gas spring body, providing exceptional corrosion resistance. Inside the shroud, a guide is in place to prevent any scratching or damage to the gas spring cylinder.
At Camloc, we understand the importance of reliability and durability. That’s why our Econoloc combines ease of use with top-notch corrosion protection, guaranteeing a long-lasting performance you can trust. Experience the peace of mind that comes with our industry-leading gas spring solutions.
Will it work for my requirements?

What sizes do you offer?
Gas springs are commonly referred to by their size. The three sizes for the Safety Locking Gas Strut with Shroud – Econoloc are 8-18, 10-23 and 14-28. The sizes directly relate to the diameter of the rod and the tube, for example an 8-18 will have a rod diameter of 8mm and a tube diameter of 18mm.
We also offer a wide range of bespoke sizes depending on your requirements.
What options are available?
- Tube lengths available in 1mm increments
- Shroud length available in 5mm increment
- Force settings in 5N increments
- Valve to allow for downward force adjustment
- Slow, Regular or Fast Extension speeds
- Light, Regular or Heavy Damping
- Damping zone and k-factor (spring rate) adjustment
- Oil chamber / rod-up mounting options
- Array of end fittings
A single safety locking gas struts with a shroud – Econoloc should be used in conjunction with a Fixed Force Compression Gas Springs – Swift and Sure.
